Abstract
The transport properties of solids are better compared to liquids or base fluids. Thus, when solid nanoparticles are added to a base fluid, the resultant nanofluid is more efficient for cooling or heating phenomena compared to the base fluid. The study will help thermal engineers in predicting the transmission of thermal energy. In this aspect, Cattaneo-Christov heat flux is used to compute the rate of transferring heat in a material. the base fluid. Heat transfer is analyzed for the two-phase flow when the heated rod is placed vertical as well as horizontal in the cavity. The simulation is made in Open-source Field Operation And Manipulation. The projection method and the finite volume method (FVM) are used for the computation of the model developed for the flow of nanofluid. A comparison between the projection method and the FVM is made. The transmission of thermal energy via the FVM in OpenFOAM better suits compared to the results obtained via the projection method shown in the figures.
