The interaction of fluorescent probe 3-N-(N'-methylacetamidino) benzanthrone (3-MAB) with copper oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles is studied, wherein the copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were prepared by combustion method. The prepared CuO and ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) techniques. The interaction between fluorescent molecule 3-MAB and nanoparticles (CuO and ZnO) was investigated by absorption and fluorescence techniques. Further, the steady state fluorescence quenching of 3-MAB by CuO and ZnO nanoparticles in different solvents was studied at room temperature (298 K) and higher temperatures at 308 K and 318 K to determine the bimolecular quenching rate constant, binding constant and binding sites.
