Abstract
Most of the existing schemes of fuzzy information processing can be regarded as three molecule architectures composed of two interfaces and a single processing module. The role of the input and output interface is to assure an efficient interaction between the fuzzy model and its environment. The processing module is aimed at all fuzzy computations internal to the model. This study is devoted to the analysis and design of the interfaces. Their development is guided by some general criteria stemming from information theory and involving entropy equalization and ideas of distortion-free information mapping.
