Abstract

aluminum alloys friction materials testing relaxation
In a recent paper by one of the authors an internal friction peak was reported for Al-2 wt% Mg alloy at relatively low temperatures. This peak was assumed to have a relaxational origin and was attributed to the interaction between dislocations and solute atoms. The present work aims to throw more light on the parameters affecting the formation of this kind of relaxation peak such as solute atom concentration, state of cold work and the dislocation density in the presently tested Al-Mg alloys.
