Abstract
The objective of this paper is to To study the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of organ donation and to determine the knowledge of brain death among social media users living in Saudi Arabia in 2014-2015. The study is cross-sectional study. It was conducted among social media users living in Saudi Arabia from 18 to 60 years of age. A pre-designed self-administrated questionnaire including four main sections was distributed online randomly on social media networks in January 2015 to February 2015. The collected data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. A total of 1368 participants was obtained, only 913 met the inclusion criteria. Our study showed that the vast majority of our sample has enough knowledge about organ donation. Interestingly, the knowledge about brain death is relatively high. We recommend to increase the knowledge of religious legislation of organ donation and organ donation requirements by public awareness campaigns and educational programs and ads.
