Abstract
Background: The Duodenal switch (DS) is a variant of the biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) in the surgical treatment of morbid obesity. Patients and Methods: The operative procedure of laparoscopic DS (LAP/DS) is described, and the early surgical outcomes of 78 operated patients are reported. Results: The postoperative stay ranged from 5 to 8 days. Local wound infection at a trocar site was the most common local complication. Conclusion: LAP/DS is an advanced, complex and feasible technique in bariatric surgery.
