Abstract
One of the unusual etiologies of lower back pain is an epidermoid cyst which is a rare tumor of presacral space. We present a 50-year-old female who came to our clinic complaining of lower back pain with chronic constipation for 20 years. A CT-scan was done and showed a presacral cyst proceeded by an MRI that appeared to be a thin wall presacral/retrorectal cyst compressing the uterus and the urinary bladder and more in the left side of the rectum, hypointense in T1 signals and hyperintense in T2 signals. Because of the size and the site of the tumor, laparoscopic transabdominal presacral cyst resection was performed. The histopathological examination diagnosed the specimen as an epidermoid cyst. Thereby, a proper diagnosis and the management plan are important in such presacral cysts to prevent their complications like infection, bleeding, and malignant degeneration.
