Abstract
Nanocrystalline (10–15 nm) intermetallic compounds γ-Cu
5Zn
8 and ε-CuZn
5 are prepared by the laser vaporization controlled condensation technique. The nanoparticles can be assembled into filaments and fibers by applying an electric field during the synthesis. The properties and possible applications of the nanoparticle assemblies are presented and discussed.
