Gas-liquid chromatography was used to analyse the fatty acids of lipids in larvae, propupae, pupae, and newly emerged adults of workers and drones of Egyptian and Carniolan honeybees and their F
1
hybrid in Egypt. Oleic acid constituted more than 50% of the total acids and palmitic 30 to 45% except in newly emerged adults, where it was much less. Adult drones had considerable palmitoleic acid as well as dienoic and trienoic acids.
