Abstract
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are severe cutaneous adverse reactions carrying high morbidity and mortality. In a small number of patients, these dermatological conditions may constitute the initial presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus. Herein we report on a 37-year-old patient hospitalized for acute rash of the face and trunk suggestive of lupus-related Stevens-Johnson syndrome. This diagnosis must be considered in the presence of similar lesions and in the absence of drug intake, particularly where other clinical and laboratory abnormalities are observed.
