Abstract

costunolide-1,10-epoxide cyclization Magnolia grandiflora Magnoliaceae reynosin santamarine sesquiterpene lactones
The hitherto unknown γ-isomer of the two eudasmanolides santamarine and reynosin was found to occur naturally in the root bark of M. grandiflora L. Its identity was established by studying its spectral data and by synthesis by cyclizing costunolide-1,10-epoxide. It was named magnolialide.
