Abstract
Mechanical properties of PA-6 modified with phenolformaldehyde resol-type oligomers thermally cured in the polymer matrix have been studied. Modulus of elasticity E and strength limit sigma of PA-6 modified with these oligomers increase with increase of the content of the modifying agent in the polymer. E of the system under study in a medium of 100% humidity exceeds the corresponding value for the initial PA-6 and PA-6 modified with tanning agent-type oxyaromatic compounds. The obtained results are explained by the formation of a system of strong hydrogen bonds (characterized by cooperative intermolecular interactions) between three-dimensional networks of phenolformaldehyde oligomers and PA-6 in amorphous domains of a polymer.
