Abstract
The title compound, C(10)H(12)BrNO(4)S, is an intermediate in the synthesis of benzothiazine. The planar methyl ester group (maximum deviation is 0.0065 angstrom) is oriented at a dihedral angle of 39.09 (13)degrees with respect to the aromatic ring. In the crystal structure, weak intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions link the molecules into centrosymmetric dimers, through R(2)(2)(10) ring motifs.
