Abstract
A series of new 5-(substituted biphenyl-4-yl)-3-(methoxyphenyl)-1-methyl-1H-1,2,4triazoles (5-15) were successfully synthesized by Suzuki coupling between 5-(4-bromophenyl)-3(substituted methoxyphenyl)-1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazoles (3 and 4), which were used as key intermediates for the synthesis of our targets, and the appropriate boronic acid. The new synthesized compounds were characterized by H-1, C-13-NMR and mass spectrometry. The antioxidant properties of the newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazoles have been studied for their antioxidative activity using metal ions (Fe3+, Cu2+) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging. Compound 14 showed the highest antioxidant activity.
