Abstract

Alzheimer's disease Blood cholesterol Health aspects Hypercholesterolemia Hypertension Measurement Risk factors
The authors report on a study designed to determine if any relationship exists between middle age elevation of blood pressure and/or cholesterol and the risk of Alzheimer's disease in later life. Population surveys followed for 21 years showed that either raised systolic blood pressure or cholesterol levels increased the risk of Alzheimer's and people with both had a much higher risk than those with only one elevated factor.
