Abstract
The macroscopic and microscopic appearance of hepatic cysts in camels have been described. The cysts had thin wall and they were protruded out from the liver surface. They contained no parasites or scolices. The cyst wall was lined by flattened or low cuboidal epithelium, and no definite structures suggestive of parasitic infection could be detected. Biochemical analysis showed that cyst fluid resembled with serum in composition, proteins, glucose, creatinine, Ca, P and Na levels and the activities of the enzymes ASAT, ALAT and CK were lower in cyst fluid while K, Fe, Mg, Cl and urea were close to serum values Except in one case, cyst fluid was negative for bacteria.
