Abstract
A series of 7-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[4',3' :4,5]thieno[2,3-d]-pyrimidines, 7-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[4',3 ':4,5]thieno[2,3-d][1,3]-thiazines and 9-methyl-8,910,11-tetrahydropyrido[4',3 ':4,5]thieno[3,2-e]-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidine was synthesized as antiviral and antitumor agents. Compound 9c exhibited a broad spectrum antitumor activity and full panel mean-graph midpoint value (Mg-MID) of 21.6 mu M and a remarkable activity against Herps Simplex type-1 (HSV-1) with 70 % reduction in the number of HSV-1 viral plaques. The detailed syntheses, spectroscopic and biological data are reported.
