Abstract
Two groups of human kidney concretions from South Africa and Sudan are compared in terms of their matrix-phases as determined by XRD and proton-BS. The trace elements, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Se, Sr, Br, Sn, In and Pb analysed by
μPIXE showed a possible linear relationship of the mean profile for trace elements for each group of stones. Statistical analysis of
μPIXE evaluated by correspondence analysis showed that the two-dimensional plot of axes 1 and 2 with an information of up to 85% could explain the formation of two clusters corresponding to each of the South African and the Sudanese stone groups (
p<0.05).
