Abstract
The propagation of Love waves along the boundary between a half-space and a layer of different pre-stressed material is examined for incompressible isotropic elastic materials. The secular equation is obtained for a general strain-energy function and analysed for particular deformations and materials. For the neo-Hookean strain-energy function, numerical results are obtained to illustrate the dependence of the wavespeed on the wave number and on the deformation.
