Abstract
In this paper, we are interested in determining the cumulative distribution function of the sum of alpha - mu, kappa - mu, and eta - mu random variables in the setting of rare event simulations. To this end, we present a simple and efficient importance sampling approach. The main result of this work is the bounded relative error property of the proposed estimators. Capitalizing on this result, we accurately estimate the outage probability of multibranch maximum ratio combining and equal gain diversity receivers over alpha - mu, kappa - mu, and eta - mu fading channels. Selected numerical simulations are discussed to show the robustness of our estimators compared with naive Monte Carlo estimators.
