Abstract
The Cretaceous Omdurman Formation in Khartoum area is studied with special reference to palaeocurrent directions, heavy minerals and subsurface geology. The results of this study reveal that the palaeocurrents were regionally, directed from the south-southeast to the north-northwest.
The heavy minerals' distribution indicates a provenance located in the Southeast of Khartoum. The geological informations obtained from drilled boreholes together with the regional structural framework support that the Sandstone Formation in the area was possibly deposited in structurally controlled basins.
