Abstract
Silica doped praseodymium-tris-(acetylacetonate) [Pr(acac)(3)] have been synthesized using co-precipitation method. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), UV/visible and photoluminescence spectroscopy have been employed to characterized and optimized the structural and optical properties of silica doped Pr(acac)(3). The particle size of silica doped Pr(acac)(3) was estimated using by TEM micrographs to be 22 nm. Significant enhancement in optical properties were observed in silica doped material as compare to undoped Pr(acac)(3) material, which shows the successful doping of silica in the Pr3+ complex matrix. D-1(2) <- H-3(4) transition was highly influenced and shown high intensity with broadening in the visible spectrum, suggests the successful doping of silica in the Pr3+ matrix.
