Abstract
Zinc molybdenum phosphate (ZnO–MoO
3–P
2O
5) glasses of different compositions were prepared and synthesized and some of their properties were studied. The optical band gaps have been deduced from spectral dependence curves. The infrared absorption spectra of these investigated glasses were found analogous to SrO–Fe
2O
3–P
2O
5. Annealing at different temperatures does not show a prominent change in absorption band positions. We correlate our findings with a possible structural explanation of these glasses.
