We study the decay of the energy for a degenerate network of strings, and obtain optimal decay rates when the lengths are all equal. We also define a classical space semi-discretization and compare the results with the exact method introduced by Ammari and Jellouli (Appl. Math. 52 (4) (2007) 327-343; Bull. Belg. Math. Soc.
