Abstract
The structure and the hardness of hybrid metal matrix composites with a matrix from alloy 6063 of the Al - Mg - Si system and dispersoid particles of Al2O3 and SiC are studied. At less than 5 wt.% dispersoid in the composition the distribution of particles in the matrix is uniform; at a higher content of dispersoid the particles are segregated even over grain boundaries of the matrix. The density and the hardness of the composites increase with the content of the dispersoid.
