Abstract
One hundred and twenty Prim-Holstein cows were randomly assigned to two groups of sixty animals each. In the treated group the animals received and individual dosis of ergometrine plus serotonine (Sergotonine(TM)) either within one hour, between 1 to 6 hours or between 6 to 12 hours after calving, by intra-muscular route. Control animals were injected with saline in the same conditions. The placental retention rate was significantly lowered in the treated group (10.0 p. 100) as compared to the control one (38.3 p. 100) (p < 0.05).
