Abstract
A step-wise method was used to prepare ternary nanocomposite from Pt/ZnO-MWCNT. A sol-gel method was used to prepare ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposite. A photo-assisted deposition method was used to loading platinum nanoparticle above ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposite. The photocatalytic activity of Pt/ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposites was studied for degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light. The results reveal that photocatalytic activity of Pt/ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposites is higher than that of ZnO-MWCNT and pure ZnO under visible light. The reason of high photocatalytic activity of Pt/ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposites due to synergetic effect of Pt nanoparticles and MWNT, which lead to high absorption ability and high separation ability between electron and hole. Therefore, a certain amount of platinum nanoparticles can improve the photocatalytic activity of Pt/ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposites towards to the degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light.
