Abstract
PMMA/ In2O3 nanocomposite films for photoinduced nonlinear optics were synthesized. 50% (w/v) solution of PMMA (M-w = 100.000) was prepared in chloroform (purity >99%, from SD Fine Chemicals, Mumbai) and stirred for ca 15 h. To the viscous solution so obtained, appropriate quantity of In2O3 nanoparticles was added with continuous stirring. The reaction system was sonicated for two hours. The dispersion so obtained was used for formation of PMMA/In2O3 nanocomposite films by spin casting the solution on glass substrate at 10 000 rpm for 20 s. The photoinduced optical second harmonic generation was performed by nanosecond Nd:YAG laser using the bicolour laser treatment. The output SHG has shown nonlinear dependence on the In2O3 nanoparticles content.
