Abstract
Two new naturally occurring compounds, heptadecylcaffeic acid (1) and 2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-methylfumaric acid (2) were isolated from the aerial parts of Lampranthus spectabilis N.E.Br., together with 4 known compounds, epiloliolide (3), salivin A (4), phenethyl beta-D-glucopyranoside (5) and phenethyl rutinoside (6). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by comparison of their physical and spectral data with literature values. None of the isolated compounds (1-6) showed any significant DPPH radical scavenging activity or cytotoxicity toward A549. (c) 2018 SAAB. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
