Abstract
Atractyloside was shown to inhibit the
in vitro release of ADP from platelets nto the ambient fluid, but its addition did not prevent or even reduce platelet aggregation by collagen, adrenalin and 5-hydroxytryptamine. This observation casts some doubt on the view that ADP release is the final common pathway of all aggregation mechanisms.
