Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis, detailed characterization and chemical sensing application of poly(acrylic acid)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (PAA/MWCNTs) composites. The prepared composites were characterized using several techniques in order to investigate their morphological, structural and compositional properties. The detailed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies revealed that the PAA successfully made composite with MWCNTs and the surface of the PAA/MWCNTs appears to be rougher and wrinkled as compared to bare MWCNTs. Further, the prepared PAA/MWCNTs composites were used as an efficient electron mediator to fabrication highly sensitive chemical sensor for the effective detection of 2-nitrophenol. The fabricated 2-nitrophenol chemical sensor exhibited a high-sensitivity of 325.24 mu A.mM(-1).cm(-2). The obtained results confirmed that PAA/MWCNTs composites are excellent electron mediator to fabricate high-sensitive chemical sensors for the detection of various toxic chemicals.
