Recent studies on polycatenar mesogens are reviewed: phasmids, biforked mesogens and some non-conventional polycatenar liquid crystals. Some physical properties (permeation process, anisotropy of matter diffusion, columnar distortion) on the more common polycatenar mesogens are described.
