Sir.—It was with a mixture of interest and personal chagrin that I read the article by Larter et al1 on polymyxin B sulfate and pertussis vaccine—interest because I have been a sometime advocate of this particular application of the endotoxin-inactivating activity of polymyxin B, but chagrin that, in this narrow field, reference to my own publication2 in a readily accessible journal was omitted. My dismay was intensified when I realized that the article was authored by the senior members of AJDC's editorial board, who had clearly not done their homework either in checking the pertinent literature or their references. For the record, my own article on the subject, which appeared in 1981 (the same year as the article by Cooperstock and Riegle3), provided independent confirmation of the inactivating effect of polymyxin B on the endotoxin component of pertussis vaccine.
