Abstract
Conducting polymer nanocomposites have the advantageous features of both conducting polymers (CPs) and organic/inorganic nanoparticles. They have become useful materials for diverse applications in batteries, transistors, supercapacitors, anti-corrosive coatings, photocatalysis, and electrochemical sensors. This review is devoted to the fundamental synthesis methods used for nanocomposite material-based polythiophene and its derivatives. The combination of conductive fillers such as carbon nanomaterials and/or inorganic nanoparticles in a polymer matrix enhances the electrochemical sensors compared to similar sensors without the nanocomponent. The analytical performance of the modified electrodes for different targets is summarized and compared. The review article covers 5 years since 2016 (Web of Science).
