Pretargeted immuno-PET imaging based on the bioorthogonal chemistry between F-18-labeled Reppe anhydride derivatives and tetrazine conjugates of the EGFR-specific monoclonal antibodies cetuximab and panitumumab was performed. This pretargeting approach yielded high target-to-nontarget ratios. Furthermore, due to the fast clearance rate of the PET probe, the overall radiation burden to nontarget tissues was also substantially decreased.
