Abstract
The question of improving performances of operation is nowadays more than ever considered a very critical issue. It is well known that a good portion of the electricity required to operate a power grid is spent as transmission line power losses. The purpose of this investigation work is to quantify the influence of different parameters on transmission line performance using statistical design experiments method. First we present the basic concepts of the Design of Experiments (DOE) technique and why it is such an important and useful tool for simulation. Then, by means of a case study the DOE method is applied to study the factors (parameters) affecting the performance of a power transmission line.
