We study the rate of decay of solutions of the wave systems with time dependent nonlinear damping. The damping is modeled by a continuous monotone function without any growth restrictions imposed at the origin and infinity. The decay rate of the energy funcional is obtained by solving a nonlinear non-autonomous ODE.
