Abstract
This seroepidemiological survey is carried out to assess the immune stutus to rubella of pregnant females in central Tunisia. This study included 1 292 parturientes selected at random. Their mean age was 27,5 years. Sera was tested for rubella antibodies. All sera with titre of > 1/16 were considered as positive that is immune. The prevalence of antibodies found in this survey (75,4 %) didn't vary according to age. We found however that protection is higher in urbain women and in those who had past history of abortion. The high rate of receptivity found in this study needs to be confirmed by other studies and suggests the introduction of vaccination for children or sero-negative women.
