Abstract

Adolescents Family relationships Gender differences
Introduces articles in a special issue on sex differences in family relations at adolescence. Suggests reasons for a revival of interest in research on the family. The studies confirm the need to characterise the 'adolescent--parent relationship' as 4 very different relationships: differences between boys and girls, mothers and fathers, and boys and girls in interaction with mothers vs fathers.
