In eigenmode treatments of the non-local response of small symmetrical solids to external perturbations the momentum spectrum is discretized and physical quantities are expressed as discrete sums. An exact calculation of these sums is carried out for a sphere in the standard case of a dielectric function of an hydrodynamic type. This result reconciles eigenmode and additional boundary condition treatments, as it is seen on the example of a small metallic sphere absorption spectrum.
