Abstract
This investigation deals with the use of activated carbon (AC) for the adsorption of Arsenazo-III and Thorin. The factors affecting the adsorption on (AC) were examined. The adsorption process was found to follow the pseudo-second-order mechanism and the equilibrium data fitted well to the Freundlich isotherm. The monolayer capacity values were found to be 187.96 mg/g for Arsenazo-III and 267.40 mg/g for Thorin at 298°K; the optimum pH for Arsenazo-III and Thorin removal are 7.0 and 2.0, respectively at V/M ratio 0.5. The results indicate that AC has excellent potential for the adsorption of Arsenazo-III and Thorin from radioactive waste solutions.
