Abstract
THE AIM of this study is to evaluate the reno-protective effect of the defatted methanolic extract of Stevia rebaudiana which showed the highest improvement of renal parameters, as it reduced the protein urea, blood urea nitrogen and blood creatinine and nephroprotective properties with reduced hyperglycemia complications through protection of renal tissues in type-1 diabetes. Also, identifi cation of bioactive phenolic compounds of defatted methanolic extract using HPLC analysis, demonstrate the presence of diterpene glycosides, stevioside, rebaudioside A and chlorogenic acid.
