Abstract
In this study, the thermal behavior of the wall by adding phase change material in the presence of solar radiation was investigated. Phase change material with a melting point of 21-23 C was added to the wall and then its effect on heat transfer was inspected. By numerically solving the energy equation, the temperature distribution within the wall was obtained and then, using Newton's law of cooling, heat transfer from the inner surface was obtained. The results showed that if a thickness of 1 cm is added to the western, eastern, southern and northern walls, it will affect heat transfer and reduce it by 18.5, 18.1, 17.4 and 17%, respectively. Hence, the effect of Phase change material on heat transfer of the main walls is not much different. Then, the effect of thickness was explored and it was found that for a building that is equipped with at thickness 1 cm, heat transfer reduced by 3.69 kWh/m(2).July. This figure at 2, 3, 4 and 5 cm was 4.07, 4.39, 4.69 and 4.96 kWh/m(2).July.
