Abstract
The present paper investigates the thermal stress and magnetic field effects on the reflection of plane rotational waves at the free surface of an elastic half-space, which is initially stressed and thermally insulated from the outer space. The basic governing equations for isotropic
and homogeneous generalized thermoelastic media under rotation, magnetic field, initial stress, the reflection and refraction of thermoelastic shear waves of thermo elastic solid half-spaces have been investigated. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and refracted waves are obtained
for an ideal boundary for the incidence of SV-wave. The numerical computations are carried out for a particular model. The effect of initial stress, rotation and magnetic field on the amplitude ratios are shown graphically after numerical calculation. These graphs show how the absolute values
of those ratios alter due to the thermal coupling coefficients, rotation, the initial stresses and magnetic field besides the angle of incidence and the elastic parameters of the medium. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence of rotation, initial stress and
magnetic field. The results indicate that the effect of rotation, magnetic field and initial stress are very pronounced.
