For a user facing the task of choosing a new radiological material, it is important to define a standard procedure to make comparisons. To do so there are two different philosophies. On the one hand, one can perform a subjective test using an anthropomorphic phantom, and on the other hand one can define an objective test to quantify the notion of quality. These two different techniques have been used to rank 23 screen-film combinations for chest imaging.
