Abstract
Modified cellulose bearing iminoacetate functionality was prepared through modification of cellulose with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) then leucine (CGL). Modified cellulose obtained was investigated by FT-IR, TGA, SEM, and BET measurements. Modified cellulose showed powerful uptake capacities toward V(IV) ions from its aqueous solutions using batch technique. The maximum uptake capacity toward V(IV) ions at 25 °C was 54 mg/g with relatively fast kinetics. Adsorption isotherms, and kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption process were obtained and analyzed. Selective separation of V(IV)ions from a mixture containing U(VI) ions was achieved. Regeneration of the spent resin was tested using 0.2 M H

SO
4
with up to 95% recovery percentage.
