Abstract
This study was undertaken to determine the serum immunoglobulin levels in HbAS and a control group of HbAA subjects resident in the same community. Serum lysosomal hydrolase activities were also determined in both groups. The mean concentrations of the major immunoglobulins are significantly lower in HbAS. Furthermore, the activites of acid phosphatase are statistically higher in sickel cell trait subjects.
