Abstract
Iron(0)pentaflourotetraphenylporphyrin [FeCl(PFTPP)] electrocatalyse the selective photoreduction of CO2 to CO at illuminated p-type silicon photocathode at a potential 600 mV positive of that required for carbon and Hg electrodes with current efficiency of 22 % and the amount of hydrogen 35 %. Coupling of homogeneous Fe-porphyrins catalyse the reduction of CO2 with heterogeneous H2O reduction by photocathode p-type Si electrode. More H2 production detected at a lower concentration of catalyst, whereas electrolysis on Hg and carbon electrode under the same condition as p-type Si showed very low H2 production.
