Abstract
Recent radiative lifetime measurements by the method of laser-induced fluorescence were combined with the measured branching ratios to determine absolute transition probabilities for lines of Sc and V ions. HFS data are included in the computed spectra of Sc II lines. The synthetic spectra are computed with the assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium, using the Holweger-Mueller solar model. The abundance derived from Sc II and V II lines, A(Sc) = 3.5 + or - 0.08, A(V) = 3.93 + or - 0.05, are comparable with the meteoritic values, 3.08 + or - 0.04 and 4.02 + or - 0.02, respectively.
