Abstract
Absorption and fluorescence spectra of 7-diethylamino-4-methyl coumarin in polar and non-polar solvents have been studied. The excited state dipole moment (mu(e)) has been found to be more than the ground state dipole moment (mu(g)). These values have been compared with the computed value by using ab initio method at 6-31G* level and are in good agreement with the experimental result.
